Our analysis of vouchers redeemed in the year 2016/17 shows that Cancer Research UK regained top spot from Macmillan for the most number of vouchers redeemed. Others in the ‘Top 10’ are very similar to last year: British Heart Foundation, Save the Children, WaterAid, Alzheimer’s Society, Medecins Sans Frontieres, Salvation Army, Alzheimer’s Research UK and British Red Cross.
More broadly, as in 2015/16, the major cancer charities formed the biggest group, followed by major international Aid charities, and then charities relating to dementia.
Our ‘Top 20’ charities received 30% of all redeemed vouchers. 427 charities received voucher donations during the year, many of them received multiple donations and others just one or two.
Voucher sales during the year were our highest yet and voucher redemptions are still coming in so we expect the final total amount of money given to charities for the year to exceed the previous maximum, set in 2015/16. On behalf of all the charities, we would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to all users of the Charity Vouchers service. The demands on charities seem to rise year on year so, with your help, we hope we can do even better in the year ahead!
