Thursday November 16th is Social Enterprise Day – a day to raise the profile of social enterprises, like our company – Anglia Giving.
To mark the occasion, Social Enterprise UK are asking us all to tell our stories, to show what makes us different from traditional businesses and to shout about the impact of our work.
As a long-established not-for-profit organisation selling charity gift vouchers, which raise large amounts of money for UK charities, we feel we have been a social enterprise since before the phrase even came into being! Nevertheless we are delighted to see the growth of the sector and the growing recognition of what it achieves.
Business can have a primary aim of helping to improve society (whilst being financially viable). In other words, the primary aim of a business doesn’t always have to be simply maximising profits. This is the joy of social enterprises, and the message we are very pleased to help to spread… even if we have to dress up as Rudolf to do it!!!
